SMC ENGLISH MASS - 12TH SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME (20 JUN 2021)

SMC English Mass - 12th Sunday Ordinary Time (20 Jun 2021)

ENTRANCE HYMN

Here I am Lord

1. I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin. My hand will save
I who make the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright
Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send?

* Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord? I have heard you calling in the night
I will go, Lord. If you lead me, I will hold Your people in my heart

2. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne My people's pain
I have wept for love of them. They turn away
I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone
I will speak My word to them. Whom shall I send?

3. I, the Lord of wind and fame, I will tend the poor and lame
I will set a feast for them. My hand will save
Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied
I will give My life to them. Whom shall I send?

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise You. We bless You. We adore you. We glorify You. We give You thanks for Your great glory.  Lord God, heavenly King, O God almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only-begotten Son. Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father: you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One. You alone are the Lord. You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

1st Reading – Job 38:1, 8-11

The Lord addressed Job out of the storm and said: Who shut within doors the sea, when it burst forth from the womb; when I made the clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling bands? When I set limits for it and fastened the bar of its door, and said: Thus far shall you come but no farther, and here shall your proud waves be stilled!

Responsorial Psalm – Psalms 107:23-24, 25-26, 28-29, 30-31

R. Give thanks to the Lord, his love is everlasting.

They who sailed the sea in ships, trading on the deep waters. They saw the works of the Lord and his wonders in the abyss.

R. Give thanks to the Lord, his love is everlasting.

His command raised up a storm wind which tossed its waves on high. They mounted up to heaven; they sank to the depths; their hearts melted away in their plight.

R. Give thanks to the Lord, his love is everlasting.

They cried to the LORD in their distress;

from their straits he rescued them, He hushed the storm to a gentle breeze, and the billows of the sea were stilled.

R. Give thanks to the Lord, his love is everlasting.

They rejoiced that they were calmed, and he brought them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his kindness and his wondrous deeds to the children of men.

R. Give thanks to the Lord, his love is everlasting.

2nd Reading – 2 Corinthians 5:14-17

Brothers and sisters:

The love of Christ impels us, once we have come to the conviction that one died for all; therefore, all have died. He indeed died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. Consequently, from now on we regard no one according to the flesh; even if we once knew Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no longer. So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.

Alleluia – Luke 7:16

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

A great prophet has risen in our midst,

God has visited his people.

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel – Mark 4:35-41

On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples: “Let us cross to the other side.”

Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was. And other boats were with him. A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” He woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” They were filled with great awe and said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God,

the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,

the Only Begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation

he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory

to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Sanctus

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

COMMUNION HYMN

Abide with me - recording

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;

The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;

When other helpers fail and comforts flee,

Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;

Earth’s joys grow dim, its glories pass away;

Change and decay in all around I see;

O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour;

What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s pow’r?

Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?

Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;

Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness;

Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?

I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;

Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies;

Heav’n’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;

In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me

RECESSIONAL HYMN

Walk with Faith

1. Walk with faith in your heart and you'll never walk alone
For the faith in your heart, the world is yours to own
You never will grieve if in Him you believe
And walk with faith in your heart

2. When the dreams that you dream seem to disappear from view
That's the time to hang on and soon they'll come true
He'll lighten your load as you travel life's road
So walk with faith in your heart

3. You will find happiness if you let Him be your friend
And you'll find that success is just around the bend
He won't let you down, wear a smile not a frown
And walk with faith in your heart
